What is it? GEMS is a service organization whose main goal is to close the gender gap in math and science subjects. Girls in this club conduct math and science experiments with them with UVA math and science students.
When and Where- TBD May not start until after the new year based on UVA availability.

What is it? Robotics is an international competition with several levels. Our team is competing in the First Tech Challenge, which is for grades 7-high school. The competition promotes engineering. Every year a game challenge is released which involves building and coding a robot to perform certain tasks.
When and Where? We are working on getting this club up and running. Please see Ms Schultz if you are interested in coaching a team.

Henley Book Club: This one is happening virtually!
What is it? A club for students who love to read and discuss what they are reading.
When and Where? Once a month after school.

Junior Scholastic Bowl -Check back for more information when in person school starts.
What is it? How quickly can you answer questions that test how much you know about a variety of academic subjects?
That’s the challenge of Scholastic Bowl, a general knowledge quiz in which students compete to buzz in first to answer questions and earn points for their teams.
When and Where- Meets in Ms Schultz' room, #58 on Wednesdays during sting.
How Do I get Involved? Contact Ms Schultz if you are interested or just show up on Wednesdays, starting September 11th.
Model UN -Check back in soon. We are waiting to find out if this is still happening.
What is it? Model United Nations, also known as Model UN is an extra-curricular activity in which students typically role play delegates to the United Nations and simulate UN committees. The club will facilitated by Ms Schultz but run by Mrs. Effland and Ms Schultz.
When and Where? To be determined after the interest meeting and students are selected.
How do I get Involved? An interest meeting will be held during sting soon. Pay attention to the morning announcements for more information. Be sure to attend the meeting to get more information. All are welcome to apply but spaces are limited.
Destination Imagination- Check back for more information when in person school starts.
What is it? The Destination Imagination program is a fun, hands-on system of learning that fosters students’ creativity, courage and curiosity through open-ended academic Challenges . Participants learn patience, flexibility, persistence, ethics, respect for others and their ideas, and the collaborative problem solving process. The teams will showcase their solutions at a tournament. Henley has several teams which may have space or you can form your own team.
When and Where? Meeting times vary for each team.

Math Competition Club:-Though we may not go to any competitions for a while, we still plan to meet on Fridays via Zoom.
What is it?- A club for kids who love math and would like to attend local competitions. We are no forming teams to compete in a math competitions throughout the year. Competitions are usually on Saturdays and sometimes have a small registration fee. We only attend local competitions.
When and Where?- During sting on Tuesdays.
